Valerie Hegarty
The Majestic Hotel Ocean Grove

Valerie always knew she wanted to own some kind of hotel. She went to college for Hospitality and has been in the industry since she was 16 years old. Valerie bought The Majestic Hotel about 3 ½ years ago with her boyfriend, Sean Holmes, and together they also own another inn in Pennsylvania.

Valerie describes The Majestic Hotel not as a typical inn but rather as a contemporary hotel inside a Victorian household. She also owns a restaurant located inside. She feels as though this makes her property much more social, because she can become a part of special occasions, such as engagements, weddings, and anniversaries.

One special occasion Valerie recalls was a planned engagement. The gentleman asked the staff to set out the words "Will you marry me?" in candles on the field outside. The staff was thrilled to take part in this special moment and even more thrilled when the proposal went perfectly.

Although it is hard work, Valerie enjoys being an innkeeper and seeing her hard work paying off.

Fun Facts: If Valerie hadn't been an innkeeper, she would have loved to become a beach volleyball player!

EAT INN: Have a sweet Spring by making Strawberry Cheese Blintzes and Cheesecake French Toast with Fruit Sauce.

Strawberry Cheese Blintzes from the GrandLady by the Sea in Highlands, deliver the sweet taste of Spring no matter the time of year!

The Cheesecake French Toast with Fruit Sauce from The Victoria on Main in Toms River, gives original French Toast a fruity Spring flavor with another sugary twist.
