Candlelight Christmas Inn Tour
Several Spring Lake bed and breakfasts are opening their beautiful doors to revelers on Saturday, December 6th from 3:30 to 7 pm. Begin your tour with afternoon tea then make your way round to all the participating inns. The tour is one of the area’s most celebrated holiday events. Tickets cost $25. 23rd Annual Gingerbread Wonderland
The gingerbread extravaganza open this year at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown on Friday, December 5th and runs through Sunday December 14th from 10 am to 4:30 pm daily (Fridays till 7:30 pm). The 10-day exhibit features hundreds of edible structures. In the past, the show has displayed everything from the Notre Dame Cathedral to grand pianos to the Eiffel Tower and the Jersey Shore. Over 15,000 guests kick off their holiday celebrations with a visit to this charming exhibit. Tickets cost $2; children 2 or younger are admitted free. Holiday Event at Thomas Edison National Historical Park
Enjoy an old fashioned family Christmas in West Orange and visit Thomas Edison’s 1880 Victorian estate, Glenmont, decorated just as it was for the holidays. You’ll hear stories of how the Edison family celebrated Christmas and see a 12-foot tree in the den during a guided tour. Kids can play a “Hide a Santa” game. Entrance to Thomas Edison’s famous “Invention Factory” in included. The event runs November 28th, 2014 through January 4th, 2015 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 am till 3:30 pm. Tickets for Glenmont are first come first served – so arrive early in the day. Car passes and tour tickets must be purchased at the Laboratory Complex Visitor Center at 211 Main Street. Enjoy the spirit of the season with a 10-mile, 45-minute round trip excursion from Whippany to Roseland and back! Climb aboard the fully decorated trains as Santa makes his way through the crowd. Santa’s helpers follow along, giving the kids a special gift.
